Hula Beyond the Ala #8

When women gather to prepare ceremonial regalia, all of the grandmothers in all our lineages rejoice. We weave what we know from the past with what we have in the present and place our prayers into every step of the process. These ‘a’ahu hold every moment of laughter, joy, and reflection that they were created in. And now they carry within their fiber and thread, the wind, rain, offerings, tears, and healing of every ceremony they have been in and will be in.

I share some parts of the process in this space because it matters. It matters that our keiki see that we are still making the choice to come together to chant, to dance, to adorn, and to deepen the revelations. We heal more and more every time we do.
